![]() ![]() Duke is the fourth heister to be added during a community event after John Wick, Hoxton, and Bonnie, and the first to not require PAYDAY 2 Community membership. He is also the first heister to be designed primarily by the community rather than by Overkill. Duke is the fourth "free" heister in the game after Bodhi, Jimmy, and Sangres to be added post-release.Like Jimmy and Sangres, Duke is the only other heister to carry their signature weapon in pairs lore-wise.Rather, it was the name of his grandfather's friend, whose corpse can be found on display in the Shacklethorne Auction heist. It would appear that Lindenhurst is not Duke's actual surname. The winners name was Taylor VanDommelen.Duke was developed from the winning entry in the #MyHeister contest as part of the Search for Kento community event.Through his in-depth knowledge of ancient artifacts and relics, Duke played an important role in the 2018 Spring Break event, where he helped the crew identify and track down several mysterious boxes identical to the one coveted by The Dentist in 2015. He has a wide knowledge of criminal dealings and is inducted into the Payday Gang. (Duke is also rumored to have “rescued” certain artefacts from destruction by extremist insurgents in the Middle East.) The true reason for his joining the gang is currently unknown.Īugust "Duke" Lindenhurst comes from money, and is a professional art thief. He is suspected of being involved in several high-profile thefts of artwork, antiques and other historical artefacts across the globe for the past two decades, even turning up in cities near prominent archaeological digs. Duke was already fabulously wealthy before joining the gang and hails from Long Island, NY. ![]() Some rumors suggest a past connection to Aldstone, butler to the gang's member Hoxton, but as to the nature of this connection, we can only guess at present. He’s also from a much higher social background than most of the other members, which adds to the strangeness of his addition. His membership is the subject of much discussion because, while his name has appeared in FBI databases before, it has never been connected to the kind of high profile (and violent) heist-crime that is the bread and butter of the Payday gang. ![]() Duke, or August Lindenhurst as he was known until now has joined the Payday gang seemingly out of left field.
